Roth IRA Limitations - Learn About the Factors That Qualify You For a Roth IRA

If you want to open your own Roth IRA, it is very important for you to gain knowledge of the guidelines and rulings that qualify you to have one. The rulings regarding the application for a Roth retirement plan are delineated by two kinds of Roth IRA limitations, which are the compensation or income limitations and the restrictions on the amount of contributions that you can make each year. The Roth IRA limitations are also the biggest factors that can make you eligible for a Roth account..

Having a relaxed, comfortable and financially stable retirement is within reach through your acquirement for a Roth retirement plan and understanding the Roth IRA limitations. This account can grant you the opportunity to take advantage of the after-tax assets that you've contributed to your plan including your beneficial right to carry-out withdrawals, which are free from tax upon reaching the  age of 59 ½. As long as you earn and can recompense the required payments, you can pay the contributions whatever your age may be. If your account is already five years of age and you are already 59 ½ years old, aside from the tax-free distributions, you will also not be allowed to make forced minimum distributions or withdrawals if your age reach 70 ½ years.

You must be aware that the Roth IRA limitations are ruled and directed by a particular set of guidelines mandated by the tax law. Before you open an IRA account, you must examine the compensation limitations, since people who have too much income or compensation are not qualified to apply for an IRA. The procedure of applying for an IRA start when you submit your adjusted gross income (AGI) to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) through the Form 1040. Your eligibility to have a Roth IRA will depend on your calculated AGI based from your federal compensation taxes. You can look at your previous year's Form 1040 at line 36, so you can have an idea on your accurate adjusted gross income.

For 2009 Roth IRA limitations on income, if you are filing as a single filer, your income must be up to $105,000 for full contribution and for partial contribution, your earning should be up to $105,000 to $120,000. People who wish to make full contributions as joint filers should have compensation up to $166,000 and for partial contribution should be up to $166,000 to $176,000. For those who have filing status recognized as married but filing separately, their income to be eligible for full contribution should be up to $0.00 and up to $0.00 to $10,000 for partial contribution.

The Roth IRA limitations are also influenced by the tax year when the contributions are being completed. These limitations have two significant factors; your income limitation and your age. At the end of each year, when you become fifty years old and older, you will be allowed to perform additional contributions to your account, which are known as catch-up contributions. The 2009 tax year delineates a yearly contribution of $5,000 and the catch-up contributions limit is $1,000.

Whitening Teeth: 3 Essential Facts

So you want to learn about whitening teeth? You're not alone. What follows are the bare essential facts concerning teeth whitening. There is a lot of information about teeth whitening on the web today, but when you boil it all down, here is what you'll find:

Here is the first thing to keep in mind: You truly can obtain whiter teeth in days or at most, weeks. Everyone experiences results at different speeds. If you use over the counter strips, you need to stick with them. This is a key failure of many people. When users don't see results the first few days, they will often give up. Remember, it is most effective if you follow through with the whole whitening teeth procedure.

Next, remember: if you desire whiter teeth, you have to bleach them. This appears to be an obvious fact, but bear in mind that in order for your teeth to become whiter, they need much more than a deep cleaning, they must be bleached. The good news is there is a variety of teeth whitening products available, from oral strips to dental treatments. As an introductory article, I am unable to cover specific treatments.

Lastly now, the third fact you need to know: The American Dental Association has never approved a whitening teeth toothpaste which does anything more than remove stains. These whitening tooth toothpastes remove stains, but they don't change the intrinsic color of your teeth by bleaching them.

You now have all the necessary facts to get you started. Since you now have learned these whitening teeth facts, you are ready to start taking action and achieve that whiter smile. It's time for some whiter teeth! There will always be an opportunity to learn more, but just keep in mind that more information won't do you any good unless you use it.

Self Storage To The Rescue

Storage has always been a problem for many. That is why many people have to sell the stuff they love or have to live in small spaces crammed with stuff. Some do not have a place to store cars when they are away on a trip. Other people love sailing or experiencing an adventure in an RV, but cannot get one of their own due to lack of storage space. Self storage puts an end to all these people's sorrows.

Self storage spaces are used by different people for storing different things. These storage units are available in many sizes and as per the requirement, they can be rented out. The period of lease can be for a few weeks to a few years depending on the need. These self storage places are generally located in easy to access places in cities. Due to their high demand, these storage facilities are now becoming savvier both in space and technology. They have state of the art technology when it comes to their security. This includes digital locks, some of which are activated by eye scan or fingerprint, 24/7 security through close circuit cameras for video surveillance and alarm systems and climate control. Climate control is particularly important for the customers. This is because it ensures that the goods stored in the self storage units are protected from rust, moisture and other agents that might damage the goods. For instance, a furniture storage unit needs to be climate controlled, especially from parasites and keeps rodents from infesting it. All this could ruin the furniture. Similarly, car storage, boat storage and RV storage should be free from rust formation and moisture as well. A climate controlled environment is thus a top priority for most customers.

Uses Of Self Storage

Self storage has innumerable uses, hence their popularity these days. Some of these uses are noted below:

* Businesses sometimes hire self storage to store their files and important documents for which they do not have space in the office and yet cannot be destroyed.

* People, who are often on the move, prefer to have their belongings in a self storage unit, especially if they are moving into a furnished apartment. These people also store their cars in a self storage unit until they are back in town. They feel it is safer to leave the car in a self storage unit due to the elevated security features that they do not have in their own garage storage.

* Many people love to own boats and RVs but cannot due to lack of space. Therefore, they turn to self storage to store these items and enjoy their possession and use them whenever they please.

* Many people inherit furniture that they cannot put in their own homes due to lack of space. Instead of selling them, many store them in self storage units until they move into a house where they can be placed.

Whatever the reason may be for storage, customers prefer to leave their belongings in a place that ensures security and safety from wear and tear. Hence, the savvier the self storage place, the better is its opportunity to reel in customers.

Have More Fun With Outdoor Games

Do your children spend a lot of time indoors? If so, do you worry that they're not getting as much exercise as they should be going? Many kids love playing outdoors, but there's no harm in giving them a little encouragement to show them just how much fun they could be having.

It can sometimes seem as though habits have changed a lot in the past few decades. It was once the case that many of us would think that there was nothing more natural that to see children playing outdoors.

There seems to have been a shift towards indoor play. Why should this be the case? Technology can be held up as one reason. First televisions and now computers have meant that there are more things to entertain kids in the house.

Whether or not this is a good thing is certainly something that can be debated. Aside from the technological advances, there are other reasons too and these may reflect changes in society as a whole. Do we, as parents, feel more fearful for the safety of our children when they are not in the home?

This whole issue throws up some interesting concerns. The fact that kids are spending so much time taking part in activities that actually produce so little exercise was bound to have an impact. Child obesity levels, which have been rising in recent years, suggest that the impact can be seen all too clearly.

So what's to be done? Tackling these issues nationwide may be beyond our scope but it's certainly possible to think about our own children. How can we begin to encourage them to take more exercise?

One way of doing so is by showing them that exercise can be fun. Playing on a trampoline, for instance, can be great fun but will also be contributing to their fitness levels. By taking an alternative look at outdoor games, we can show them how much enjoyment is to be found.

Does this sound like it would be expensive? It needn't be - budget toys can help to brighten up a garden and inspire children. If you want to buy more expensive games and equipment then these are obviously available too.

Take the time to demonstrate to your children just how much more fun outdoor play could be!

Beginning Sales Tips: The Wisdom Of SW 4

Don't Give Prospects Power Over Your Success

You are a salesperson. You might call yourself a nurse, but every day you have to "sell" your patients more comfort in their health care and wellbeing. Your job title might be "rock star," but any professional performer first learns the lesson that a song has to be "sold" in every performance. Your business card might say "Chief Executive Officer," but you know you are always selling - to shareholders, to executives, to the rank-and-file, to the press, to customers.

Even my friends and clients who are management consultants, and who hold dearly the cultural notion that they must never cover their firm with the shame of "salesmanship," know that their jobs depend on their ability to influence their clients... to "sell" ideas and proposals in order to ensure buy-in and implementation.

So if you're a salesperson, you should be an excellent one. And excellent salespeople embrace the wisdom of such concepts as "SW 4" to ensure they do not become too emotionally invested in overcoming the natural sales resistance of their prospective clients and customers. They believe in the products and services they have to offer, and they know there are people out there looking for those offerings. The market is out there, waiting for the professional salesperson to help them buy the solutions they need.

So the pro doesn't give prospects power over their success. They know they're not paid to get everyone to say "yes," but to sift-and-sort, and to search for the people who've already said "yes" but have yet to find what they're looking for - and what the pro salesperson is offering. So they constantly remember their four SW phrases - "SW 4" - to remind them that professional selling is a search, not a sweep.

"Some Will."

"Some Won't."

"So What?"

"Someone's Waiting."

Present your offering to qualified prospects. Some will buy (though you may have to handle a couple of objections to make them comfortable with their buying decision). Some won't. So what? There are other qualified prospects out there waiting for you to help them make buying decisions that could literally change their lives.

My consultant clients often feel they don't have the "so what" option... but the true professionals among them do claim the option, and exercise it often. The stories of engagement managers and directors who've "taken away" a consulting engagement because it wasn't in the client's best interest are stories of lore and legend... and the consultants who have the guts to refuse such studies (and the accompanying high fees) generally become legends themselves.

My own doctor holds me to account for my health. If I'm not disciplined enough to keep myself in shape between office visits, he doesn't want me as a patient. And THAT is what makes me respect him enough to be extremely loyal to him as my health care provider!

So be a great salesperson... or nurse, or consultant, or rock star, or CEO. Be kind enough to get good at the central mission of your job: to "sell" others on what you have to offer. And be bold enough to protect the exclusivity of your offering - even if that offering is just your reliable, smiling face at the receptionist's desk - by offering it only to the qualified buyers out there who are committed to making it work for everybody.

Imagery & Affirmations - The Bottom Line

The bottom line is you make decisions from the non-conscious part of your mind and are moved to take action by your emotions. Your emotions always win over logic and your imagination always wins over reality.

Automatic triggers (neuro links or associations) control your perceptions and responses as they filters out anything that your subconscious mind is uncomfortable with or doesn't have a concept for understanding or labeling.

Your subconscious mind drives your instincts and emotions to make passive processing which means you will usually choose the path of least resistance. Therefore automatic triggers operating at the non conscious level rule your life choices. Rather than step outside your established comfort zone you maintain the status quo. You follow entirely predictable patterns that give you an illusion of security and stability.

Your subconscious mind's programming is imprinted by example and instruction from those around you who serve as primary authority figures at a very early age. You also have encoded information at the cellular level that predisposes you to see and interpret life events from a predetermined perceptual pattern.

This blueprint of encoded information acts as a messenger in your nervous system to set you up for having certain life experiences and following a particular life course even before your birth. Most of your attention is driven by these unconscious programs. You quite literally relieve the lives of your ancestors. If you want different results you must change your unconscious blueprint!

How to Build Your Author's Platform From Scratch

Platform. These days it's the magic word in publishing. When a publisher wants to buy, they're not just buying your book or your idea, they're buying you and the many ways you reach people. Some new authors focus solely on writing their books, thinking they can work on their platform after the book is published. Unfortunately, the business doesn't work that way. You can't wait to sell your book to build a platform, because the platform is what helps sell your book. So get started now, even if you're still in the writing stage. Here's how you do it.

Decide On a Target Market

It's tempting to skip this step, especially if you feel your book or story speaks to everyone. That may be, but it's awfully difficult--and expensive--to market to everyone. It doesn't mean you're shutting out potential customers, it just means you're focusing your laser to greatest effect. So if you survived two back surgeries and your story is about dealing with chronic pain, you may target people with back injuries, but that doesn't mean other sufferers of chronic pain (people with arthritis, for instance) will miss out on your message.

How Will You Talk to Your Market?

Thanks to the internet you have many free and low cost ways to communicate with your audience. Why is this important? Because this is how you establish yourself as an expert in your subject area. For instance, you may consider yourself an expert in back pain if you've developed ways to cope after having two surgeries. But you're a more visible expert, with loads more credibility if you have a television show, newsletter or radio show where you discuss ways of dealing with chronic pain. And here's the best part--your show doesn't have to be on one of the big networks or even on cable. You can post your own show on the web! Likewise you can have your own radio show or podcast on the web. And blogs get tons of attention as well. This is important if you're not known in your field.

Here's a great example. "Sportscaster Chronicles" is a blog and podcast by John Lewis, a New York City writer who is developing his platform as a sportcaster historian. You can view his handiwork at http://www.sportscasterchronicles.blogspot.com/.

Send Out Press Releases

Don't keep it a secret. Let the media know you're an expert available to comment on relevant news stories. You don't want to send releases out without reason, though. For instance, almost all of John Lewis's sportscaster broadcasts are connected to something currently happening in the sports world. A few weeks ago it was comments that Bryant Gumbel made during the Olympics. Before that it was the death of legendary sportscaster Curt Gowdy. He can send press releases alerting reporters of the material especially when, as in Gowdy's case, he has unique information--John had interviewed Gowdy in recent months.

Let's use the back pain story as another example. What if a popular painkiller is pulled from the market. You could send out a press release saying something like "10 Pain Relieving Exercises Developed for Former Users of Medicine X". Reporters love stuff like that. You've given them a fresh angle on a story they're already covering. And when you write your query letter or book proposal, you get to say, "pain expert quoted in magazines and newspapers". And these days you can send a press release out via email or use free distribution sites such as http://www.prfree.com, http://www.free-press-release.com/ or http://www.i-newswire.com/submit.php.

Speak Your Mind

Speaking is a great way to get people familiar with you. If you fear speaking think of it this way--pretend you are already on book tour and this is just another forum where you get to talk about your subject! You can start out speaking locally and doing it for free. If you're writing a memoir on your experiences in World War II, there may be high school history classes interested in hearing your story. Or, if you've learned how to cope with chronic pain, you could address support groups who deal with the same struggles. Speaking is also a great opportunity for adding people to your list so that you can let them know when your book comes out. Your list will always be an important marketing tool.

You don't have to have an elaborate PowerPoint presentation or music or flashing lights to be a speaker. Just choose one or two aspects of your story or subject (you don't want to give away your whole book!) and start presenting them. Groups such as local Rotary clubs are always looking for speakers. If you feel you need to polish your skills, join a Toastmasters group. Bottom line, if you have a compelling story, some group large or small will want to hear it.

Publish Articles

You don't have to send a bunch of letters out to editors trying to get an assignment to write an article. You can write a meaty, content-filled article and distribute it on the web. This is another way to establish your expertise. As with the press releases, there are many sites where you can make your articles (usually 800-1,000 words in length) available for use in other websites, newsletters and blogs. It's an excellent way to get your name in front of new audience members. Two popular distribution sites are http://www.ezinearticles.com and http://www.isnare.com.

Will You Pass the Test?

How does this all sound to you? If you're excited by these ideas and see them as opportunities to talk and write more about something you're deeply interested in, that's fantastic. It means you're on the right track--you've chosen a topic or story you're passionate about. If you aren't interested or motivated enough to want to speak and write articles or press releases connected to your topic, you may want to reconsider your book. After all, this is the kind of stuff you'll have to do at some point to sell your book. If you don't want to do it now, how will you sell your book later? Even more to the point, if you're not willing or interested enough to put this kind of activity behind your book, why should a publisher be interested in working with you? You build your platform, you build your book's future. So give it your best shot. If you feel you need help brainstorming ideas or developing your plan, hire a coach or consultant to support you. Often it's easier to move forward when you can better see the road ahead.

The Cook's Companion by Stephanie Alexander

This huge volume, with 1126 pages, is a complete resource for all Australian cooks. It was first published in 1996, revised in 2004, and contains a wealth of information about ingredients and the way they can be used in recipes. It is ideal for someone starting out in the kitchen for the first time.

Alexander has been cooking for a long time and is dedicated to her craft. In the introduction to her book she outlines her views on food, including the production of food by economically sustainable methods, using fresh food, genetically modified food and the concept of producing and sharing food as a family.

At the start of the book there a list of utensils with a definition and a brief explanation of how each is used. It contains much useful advice for purchasing each item, for example it is recommended that saucepans should not be bought in a set as rarely are all sizes required and goes on to suggest which ones could be purchased as a starter set. This sort of information is invaluable for someone setting out on the adventure of cooking on a budget.

There follows a rather long section entitled "basics" in which are definitions of some of the less familiar ingredients and terms which is found in the book as well as frequently used preparations such as stock, pastry and batter. After this a very useful section related to measurements, quantities and conversions which has been included because Alexander understands that there are occasions that some recipes, such as bread, biscuits, cakes and pastries, require greater accuracy and new cooks need guidance to feel more comfortable when cooking. At the same time she encourages cooks to be adventurous and to test by tasting.

The rest of the book is devoted to chapters, organised alphabetically, each one based on an ingredient beginning with abalone and concluding with zucchini and squash. Each chapter begins with a brief introduction usually including a personal comment about the writer's experience with that particular ingredient, followed by a general account of where the product fits into the Australian situation. We find out about varieties and season, selection and storage, preparation and cooking and then are given a selection of recipes in which the ingredient is featured. On the side of each page is provided more useful incidental information such as how recipes can be modified by the addition of other ingredients. At the end of each chapter is a list of recipes where the ingredient used in other chapters. For example in the chapter on "eggs" there is a reference to "potato frittata" in the chapter on "Potatoes."

Alexander considers that this book will be worthwhile if it encourages young people to start cooking and experienced cooks to enjoy cooking more. It is certainly a very comprehensive volume which reflects her enthusiasm for food and cooking and on which, any cook, old or new, can depend and find inspiration.

Alarming Issues Surrounding Global Warming

Global warming has become a hot topic over the past few years. While some may assume that the discussion of global warming effects is a new one, it has actually been around for a number of decades. The main difference today is that the conversation has grown to include millions of people throughout the globe. Part of the reason that so many people are concerned about global warming is due to a number of alarming points put forth by research organizations.

Here are some of the issues they have raised alarm over:

Probably the most alarming point many have made is the notion that carbon dioxide emissions cause great harm to the environment. As the studious know, human beings emit carbon dioxide when they breathe. Since human beings will always emit carbon dioxide, this would make the reduction of carbon dioxide very difficult since humans can not be taken out of the equation.

Fossil Fuels and Global Warming

The relationship between fossil fuels and the causes of global warming has also created alarm among many. Fossil fuels emit carbon dioxide and other emissions into the air when they are burned. This creates a very complex situation because the top three fossil fuels - oil, coal, and natural gas - are the primary sources of energy in the world. Then again, many people take a number of simple steps to reduce such emissions. Turning the lights off in the home and not driving as much all are all habits that can reduce energy consumption. The more people who do this the less energy resources will need to be tapped.

Effects on the animal kingdom

If there was one aspect of global warming news that has pulled on the heartstrings of people it has been the effect of global warming on the animal kingdom. Or, more specifically, it is the effect global warming has had on the polar bear community. Since people have always had a fondness for these exotic animals, many have sympathy for the animal's plight. While many are familiar with the reports that global warming has had a negative effect on the polar bear community they may not understand what exactly occurs.

Essentially, polar bears live in a habitat that is comprised of sea ice. If global warming can cause this ice to melt it reduces the habitat in which the polar bears live on. This could radically impact polar bears in the same way urbanization affected grizzly bears. In the early 1800's, Grizzly bears lived in all fifty US states. As the human population grew and cities were developed, Grizzly bears died off since their habitat disappeared. A similar effect is possible with polar bears and other animals that live in the same habitat if sea ice continues to melt.

Effects on the human kingdom

If anything, the effects of global warming on the animal kingdom concerns people over what type of effect it may have on the "human kingdom". Yes, there is fear of a potential all encompassing ripple effect and this fear fuels much of the alarmism over global warming. How the story will eventually play out over the next several years is not predictable. It is, however, predictable that people will address their alarmism with calls to action. Hopefully, this will yield a positive effect.
